DECLARATION:

The Argentine Republic recalls that the Malvinas, South Georgia and South Sandwich Islands
South are an integral part of the national territory of Argentina and were illegally occupied
by the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland because they are subject to a conflict of
sovereignty between the two countries, a conflict noted by various international organizations.
Illegal occupation of these islands by the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland
led the United Nations General Assembly to adopt resolutions 2065 (XX), 3160 (XXVIII)
31/49, 37 / 9, 38/12, 39 / 6, 40/21, 41/40, 42/19 and 43/25, in which it acknowledged the existence of
the sovereignty dispute referred under the "Question of the Malvinas Islands" and urged
the Governments of Argentina and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland
North to resume negotiations to find as soon as possible a just, peaceful
and ultimately to the dispute.
Similarly, the Special Committee of the United Nations has repeatedly
pronounced in this direction, most recently in its resolution adopted on 12 June 2008.
